“Where God’s Word of Hope is Central”
October 2008
There’s a line in a country song that I can’t shake, “grace is a measure of the fall.” I like the line, but I’m not sure if I believe it. The function of grace, and for that matter mercy, is not to measure the depth of sin; and quantifying grace or mercy is beyond my reach.
But if we could measure mercy, and for that matter grace, we would use gratitude as our measuring stick. The following numbers are a measurement of gratitude. For, in partnership with you, we celebrate that through the ministries of grace and mercy to God’s people at Roseland Christian Ministries:
- Nearly 100,000 meals were served to homeless men, women, and children in 2007.
- 2,000 food boxes (including turkeys and chicken) were given out to hungry families for Thanksgiving as well as an additional 1,500 food boxes for Christmas
- 80 homeless women and children, per day, were provided with shelter, counseling, and assistance in transitioning into apartment housing at our Women and Children’s Shelter
- 400 homeless men, women, and children were served Thanksgiving dinner at Roseland Christian Ministries
- 3 abandoned houses, formerly used for selling and using illegal, drugs were purchased and have been, or are being rehabilitated into homes for low-income families.
- 100 children were tutored every week at our Women and Children’s Shelter and our Kid’s Club at Roseland Christian Reformed Church.
- 100 children were able to attend our Summer Day Camp at Roseland Christian Reformed Church.
- 2,000 men, women, and children without healthcare were able to receive medical attention at Roseland Christian Ministries through a partnership with Roseland Christian Community Health Center
We are continually grateful for God’s grace and mercy as well as your response of gratitude to that grace and mercy.
Peace,
